A Little about Me

I don't talk about myself maybe because I prefer to hear about others lives I tend to think why wouldn't anyone want to know about me? But since some have asked so I'll try to tell you a little about myself.......
I come from a family of six children of which I am the second youngest. My Mom and Dad were married at eighteen years old and  strove hard to provide for us. My Dad had several bouts with ill health and this proved financially difficult but both my Mom and Dad would have done without before we didn't have food to eat or a roof over our heads. Being the second youngest I tend to over think things and also to like peace, so I'm the peacemaker I'd rather smooth things over then have discord. I like social interaction but I also need the solitude that writing brings. I love listening to people and hearing what they have to say. When I was young my favourite place was at the foot of an elder's chair listening to their lives' story. that made me popular with older adults, but not so popular with other children who found that odd.
I enjoy music. Music is a much part of my life as writing in fact as I grew older I was shocked to find others hadn't grown up with music and family stories. My youngest daughter used to say I'd sing things when she was younger so she'd remember them.
Although I used to sing more when I was younger and won awards I am like Julie Andrews in that I am learning to sing in another octave  and not be so critical of how scratchy and breathless my singing voice is now because of surgery.
